Tweed Day

April 3 is celebrated every year Tweed Day.

Tweed is such a textured, elastic fabric made of wool, which is soft to the touch, quite heavy and has pile in its composition. The fabric appeared in the 18th century in Scotland and Ireland. At first, it was used only by farmers, and already in the 19th century, tweed entered the wardrobe of the aristocratic community. Coco Chanel was the first fashion designer who took an interest in tweed clothing and made it fashionable.

  • In 2021 tweed clothing has not lost its popularity: warm shirts, jackets and suits are especially relevant.
