January 13 is celebrated Rubber duck day. The extraordinary event began to be celebrated in the homeland of the bright toy – in America. Despite the lack of information about the initiator of the holiday and the exact date of its inception, the rubber duck has many supporters who not only celebrate the event every year, but can also boast of amazing collections of toys.

Several generations have used rubber ducks to help their little ones feel safe while taking bath treatments. Therefore, many adults associate this positive toy with a happy childhood.
Production of rubber ducklings began at the end of the 19th century, but they were patented only in 1928. To prevent the toys from tipping over, they were much heavier than modern ones.
In 1970, the American actor Jim Henson performed the song “Rubber Duck” in the role of the Muppet doll Ernie from the famous children’s TV program “Sesame Street”. That same year, the song reached number sixteen on the Billboard Hot 100, and the demand for the rubber toy for fun in the bath increased significantly.
Collectors from all over the world can pay a lot of money for unique models of ducks. And in 2001, an interesting fact appeared about Queen Elizabeth II, who, it turns out, really likes to take a bath with a rubber duck. This story made the toy even more popular. Therefore, it is not surprising that there is such a holiday as Rubber Duck Day, because it is the story of a real toy that has become a part of almost every person’s childhood and has not lost its popularity since its invention.
