What day is it?
Everyone involved celebrates on the first Sunday of July every year Day of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The holiday was initiated by the order of President Poroshenko on June 12, 2015. The Navy plays an important role in ensuring the state’s defense capability. For the first time, the flag of Ukraine was raised on the ships of the Black Sea Fleet on April 29, 1918.
Naval traditions and rituals are respected in naval affairs. On this date, sailors, foremen, midshipmen, officers, generals and admirals accept holiday greetings. Traditionally, the celebration ceremony begins with raising the flags of Ukraine and the Navy and commemorating the fallen defenders of the Motherland.

- Since 1997, our country has been hosting the “See the Breeze” multinational trainings, organized by Ukraine and the USA.
- The first female captain of the first rank, Marina Kanaliuk, was sworn in in 2016.
- After the Russian occupation of Crimea in 2014, Ukraine lost 85% of its naval ships.
