Day of the military journalist of Ukraine

February 16 in Ukraine military journalists celebrate their professional holiday. It was launched in 2018, when the Minister of Defense signed the relevant order. February 16 is not a random date. In 2015, on this day near Debaltsev, Dmytro Labutkin was killed while performing his professional and military duty. He was a captain of the 3rd rank and the editor of the television and radio studio “Breeze” of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The National Union of Journalists honors its military colleagues who cover events on the front line and remember those who gave their lives for Ukraine. Military journalists since the first days of enemy aggression, they have been conducting reports and providing reliable information from ATO hotspots. Their professional duties include: facilitating the work of civilian representatives of Ukrainian and international mass media, informing about operations determined by the leadership, promoting the consolidation of society with the military.

Thanks to the courage and dedication of military journalists, the whole world knows the truth about the heroic defense of Ukrainian defenders. The work of military correspondents is very dangerous, because they have to prepare reports from the scene of events in difficult conditions and even under fire.

The reports of military journalists help to decently and effectively counter the aggressor’s propaganda attacks and increase the level of public trust in military structures.
