Cognac day
Every year on April 1, a popular strong drink – cognac – celebrates its own birthday. Cognac day. The fact is that April 1 is considered the most optimal time to start making the drink. Aged cognac is poured into barrels until this date, and then the moment comes for the “birth” of a new batch. These rules were established back in 1909 in France.
The name of the drink is consonant with the French city of Cognac, because it was there in the 16th century that a type of brandy was invented from white grape varieties aged in oak barrels.
By the way, in France cognac is considered national property. Every year, the French organize a loud celebration with a tasting of the drink. It is interesting that only an alcoholic drink produced in six regions of France is called true cognac.
