Bob Marley Day in Jamaica
On February 6 every year, Jamaica celebrates Bob Marley Day, because it was on this day in 1945 that the future star of reggae was born – Robert Nesta Marley (pseudonym – Bob Marley). The people of Jamaica are very proud of their performer and loudly celebrate his birthday.
The musical style in which Marley created, i.e. reggae, originated in 1968 in Jamaica. Reggae is dance music that combines melody and rhythm at the same time; special intonation, changing voice, One Drop drum and double-part guitar playing are the main characteristic features. Despite the active development of this style in Jamaica, only Bob Marley was able to achieve world fame. Bob’s most famous song is “One Love” (1977) and the first single is called “Judge Not” (1962).
By the way, Marley was not only interested in music, he was an avid football player and public figure. Having lived for 36 years, the saint of Jamaica, as the locals call him, died on May 11, 1981.
