International Day of Imprisoned Writers

Every year on November 15, the world celebrates the International Day of Imprisoned Writers. This day is dedicated to those who pay for their dissent and freedom of speech. On November 15, all people who consider the condemnation of writers for their work to be unjust unite.

The story of the Ukrainian director and writer Oleh Sentsov, who was sentenced to 20 years by the Russian authorities for the formation of a «terrorist community» in Crimea, is known to many, refusing to hand over Sentsov to Ukraine due to the alleged Russian citizenship, which was illegally granted to all residents of Crimea. The whole world came to the defense of Oleg Sentsov, even Johnny Depp took part in the release of the Ukrainian artist, so Sentsov was released in 2019.
