Day of the city of Odesa

September 2 is celebrated Day of the city of Odesa. Traditionally, the Odessa flag is raised on the city’s birthday. Flower-laying ceremonies are held at the monuments of Duke, Derybas, Marazli, Vorontsov, Holovaty and the founders of the city. On the Alley of Stars in the city of Odessa, new names are being opened on this day. Various festive events take place in different districts – sports competitions, concerts, performances, mass festivities with an entertainment program. The celebration ends with fireworks. The next day, the mayor congratulates the first baby, born on September 2, and all the newborns born on that day.
