World Computer Day (Computer Day)

Every year, the whole world celebrates February 15 Computer Day – an electronic computing machine, without which it is impossible to imagine the life of a modern person. The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the creation of the first electronic computer (it was named ENIAC), which was put into operation on February 15, 1946. ENIAC was developed specifically for the army, namely for calculating ballistic tables.

So, February 15 turned into a professional holiday computer scientists – people who know this technique. World Computer Day came to Ukraine in 2009.

Interesting fact

  • Modern computers have hundreds of times more computing power than the computer that was used to land a spaceship with astronauts on the moon. The first machines had a small amount of memory – approximately 16 kilobytes.
