Celebration in honor of the Vilnius icon of the Mother of God
Every year on February 28, the Orthodox Church arranges celebration in honor of the Vilnius icon of the Mother of God, which is also called the icon of the Mother of God with a crescent moon. According to legends, the author is the evangelist Luke, who painted the icon during the lifetime of Jesus and the Mother of God. The whereabouts of the original are currently unknown.
To the Vilnius icon of the Mother of God pray for physical and spiritual healing, protection from enemies and troubles, protection from sins and temptations. Orthodox Christians believe in the healing power of the icon of the Mother of God with the crescent moon.
