Apostle Fadeus

September 3 — Day of the Holy Apostle Fadeus of Edessa. Thaddeus of Edessa, one of the 70 apostles, a Jew by origin, was born in Edessa, a Syrian city. He should not be confused with Judas Thaddeus, one of the twelve apostles.

While in Jerusalem during the holiday, Fadei heard the sermon of Ivan the Forerunner. John’s words inspired him so much that he decided to be baptized in Jordan and stay in the Holy Land. Later, Fadeus became a disciple of the Savior and was chosen among the 70 apostles. After the Ascension of the Savior, Thaddeus of Edessa began to preach in Mesopotamia and Syria. Returning to his homeland in Edes, he converted Prince Avgar to Christianity, confirming his sermons with miracles — curing Avgar from leprosy. He later founded a church in the Phoenician city of Viriti, modern Beirut.

On this day, September 3, prophetic dreams can be dreamed. People also believe that on this day signs can reveal the future of a person and his family.

It is believed that on this day you should not spend a lot of money, supplies, food. It is also not allowed to visit and receive guests, because this can cause quarrels. In general, only the nearest and dearest people should stay at home on this day. The third of September should be spent in peace and quiet, in a good mood, without quarrels, insults, anger and other negative emotions.
